Born Licensing is expanding its presence in North America with a series of leadership changes and a relocation that reflects the company’s growing business in the U.S.
Founder and CEO David Born is moving to Los Angeles, marking the first time he will be based in the U.S. The company says the move aligns with the increasing importance of the North American market across both Born Licensing and Born to License.
“This is a business that has always operated globally,” adds Born. “But the next five years are going to be transformational, and the U.S. is the market we’re betting on to drive that exponential growth. Across both divisions, across every metric, it offers the greatest growth opportunity in our history as a business.”

Alyssa Gourlay has been promoted to President of Born to License, where she will oversee the agency’s consumer products division on a global basis. Gourlay, who is based in Los Angeles, will manage six direct reports across account management, business development, product development, marketing, and compliance.

Amber Cheung has also been promoted to director of licensing for Born Licensing, the company’s entertainment IP and advertising division.
“Born Licensing is firing on all cylinders,” shares Born. “Amber stepping into the director role reflects both her contribution and the ambition we have for this division going forward.”
According to the company, Born to License now works with nearly 40 clients and conducts business with every major licensor. The division currently has six full-time employees based in the U.S., while the majority of its client base is located in North America.
Born Licensing reports significant momentum within its entertainment and advertising business as well. During the past year, the division launched campaigns with brands including Google Pixel, IAMS, Sainsbury’s, Take 9, and Twix using properties such as Love Actually, Garfield, The BFG, and Sesame Street. Additional campaigns are expected to launch in the coming months.
The company also plans to continue growing its U.S. team, with two additional hires expected to join the business this quarter.
