THE WAIT IS OVER! HELLTRACK DELIVERS THE OFFICIAL RAD SEQUEL THAT FANS HAVE BEEN WAITING 40 YEARS TO EXPERIENCE

The Helltrack Comic Book Launches on Kickstarter Today

LOS ANGELES, CA, June 9, 2026 — Imagine being a kid in 1986 and seeing RAD in a movie theater for the very first time—on the edge of your seat, swept up by the speed, the thrills, the gravity-defying stunts! For a generation of BMX riders and dreamers, Cru Jones wasn’t just a movie character—he was a hero. And Helltrack wasn’t just a race—it was the ultimate challenge.

Fans have chased that feeling for 40 years… and now they can experience Cru Jones’ triumph once more with HELLTRACK, a sensational new comic book and official sequel to RADlaunching today through a Kickstarter campaign courtesy of Tiger Pig Entertainment!

Featuring story and character development from original screenwriter Sam Bernard and fan-favorite actor Bill AllenHELLTRACK captures all the heart and soul of the cult classic film, following Cru Jones’ journey from BMX legend to a mentor figure as he inspires his grandson Billy to face the Helltrack—the very same death-defying tournament that he won back in 1986!

HELLTRACK features an original story by Sam Bernard and Geoffrey Edwards, and character development by Bill Allen. The comic is written by Steven Stern (Zen Intergalactic Ninja), illustrated by Ron Williams, lettered by Joseba Morales, edited by Todd Seligman, and features a cover by Brooklyn-based graphic designer and street artist LAmour Supreme.

The original RAD film was a cult phenomenon, popularizing BMX racing for Generation X and inspiring action sports competitors ever since. To capture the enduring vibe and influence of the 1980s, the HELLTRACK Kickstarter offers many awesome rewards, including trading cards featuring a mix of HELLTRACK characters (like Allen’s Cru Jones and the stunt racer played by Kevin Hull) and real-life pro BMX talent, plus high quality full-color stickers to decorate your bike or gear, HELLTRACK stickers, and more surprises to come!

“It’s been a long-time dream to continue the RAD saga. This is all a part of creating a bigger, better HELLTRACK… and this is only a shade of things to come,” says Allen. “After 40 years, fans finally have something to hold in their hands. It’s the gift of RAD that keeps on giving and we’d love for you to be a part of it.”

“When I was a kid, my three favorite things were BMX, movies, and comic books,” says Seligman. “I became a pro BMXer and a movie producer, and now my passions come together with HELLTRACK comics!”

The Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the debut HELLTRACK oversized, deluxe hardcover collectible part one is now live, and runs through July 3rd. Explore its full range of reward tiers at:

Daniel Pickett

AFi founder and Editor-In-Chief Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since.

In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features.

He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced.

In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website www.ActionFigureInsider.com.

Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field. Daniel was regularly featured on “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network as the primary contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our front page has been linked to from USA Today’s
“Pop Candy” Blog twice. Daniel’s content has also been featured on Bloomberg News, MSNBC.com, Time.com, The Wall Street Journal, The Saturday Evening Post, CNN.com, AssociatedPress.com
Wired.com, Fark.com, Boing-Boing, Gizmodo.com, Ain’t It Cool News, the Official
Star Wars blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet and Toy Fare magazine, among many
others. He has consulted on toy lines, books, documentaries and TV shows.

But all of that really just sounds snooty and “tootin’ his own horn” – the long and short of it is that Daniel loves toys and he LOVES talking about them.
